Spring Flag Football

The Stony Plain Bombers are excited to provide the Spring Flag Football season. In this season the fundamentals of throwing, catching, positions, and learning plays will be developed with players. What our club loves about football is that there is a position for everyone and is open to all genders.  The Stony Plain Bombers supports the development of all skill sets and levels, beginner or experienced.  

 

Eligibility

ATOM (U10 - ages 8-10) FLAG FOOTBALL - athletes born 2015, 2014, 2013

PEEWEE (U12 - age 11-12) FLAG FOOTBALL- athletes born 2012, 2011

BANTAM (U14 - ages 13-14, *15 if attending Grade 9) -FLAG FOOTBALL - athletes born 2010, 2009 (OR 2008 * only if attending Grade 9 in 2023-24 school year)

Any athletes born in 2008 or earlier and in Grade 10, 11 or 12 should register to play Fall Flag with their designated High School. *IF your child's High School does NOT offer a Fall Flag programs, please visit Metro Athletics website @ www.metroathletics.ca to find a neighboring school to play for.

 

Reside in the Town of Stony Plain or in Parkland County.

Registration opens February 8, 2023.

 

Registration ends April 15, 2023.

Game Play and Season

 

Atom and Pee-Wee divisions will play 5 v 5 and the Bantam division will play 7 v 7.

 

Regular Season games begin April 15, 2023 with the season running to the end of May 2023.

 

Practices will begin indoors until they can be moved to the Stony Plain Bombers home field. Starting on March 4, practices will be on Saturdays. Mondays will be added for the Month of April. Upon moving to the Stony Plain Bombers home field, practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays with games on the weekend.

 

Upon commencement of the season, you will receive a welcome message with the additional information you will need to know from the Registrar. Further information will be provided throughout the season from the Non-Contact Director and inquiries can sent to noncontact@stonyplainfootball.com.

 

Fundraising Commitment:

 

1 Bingo per player (Spruce Grove Bingo Hall) = $200

 

If the Bingo commitment is not fulfilled and/or you do not attend or send a replacement for your agreed upon date and time, the fee in the amount of $200 will be added to your RAMP Account. Your account will be locked until the fee is paid. This is in lieu of taking a deposit.

 

Parents/Guardians can choose to payout their fundraising commitment.

Volunteer Support:

Refunds:

  • Refunds can be issued up to and including April 7, 2023 and will be for the club fees only. CDMFA and Football Alberta fees will not be refunded if a player has begun practice.

 

Equipment:

  • Players will be provided with a jersey and flags through the club
  • Players will need to provide their own footwear. For indoor practices, runners will be needed. Cleats or outdoor runners can be used for games and when practices move outdoors. Cleats are preferred to support traction on the fields.

 

Registration forms

  • Waivers will be completed at the time of online registration
  • Medical form to be provided to the Non-Contact Director at first practice. Players cannot begin practice until the medical forms are completed and returned to the club.

Fall Tackle and Novice Flag Football

The Stony Plain Bombers are excited to provide the opportunity for children and youth to grow in the sport of football. This Co-ed division is designed to emphasize the development of football skills, sportsmanship by all participants, fair play and teamwork. The Stony Plain Bombers support multi-sport players.

 

Eligibility

 

Novice Flag - players who turn 6, 7 or 8 before December 31st of the current year

Atom - players who turn 8, 9 or 10 before December 31 of the current year

Peewee - players who turn 11 or 12 before December 31 of the current year

Bantam - players who turn 13, 14 or *15 (*if attending grade 9 in the 2023-2024 school year) during the current year and who are NOT entering grade 10 in September of this year

 

Reside in the Town of Stony Plain, Parkland County or surrounding areas that do not have a minor football association (i.e. Town of Onoway).

 

Game Play and Season

 

Novice Flag division plays 6-A- Side quarter field.

 

Atom division plays 6-A-Side quarter field.

 

Pee-wee division plays 9-A-Side full field.

 

Bantam division plays 9-A-Side or 12-A-Side full field dependent upon the team size.

 

For Novice Flag and Atom division, practice begins in June and recommences the first week of August. There is no practice in July. Games begin in September and the season ends in October. Practices are on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Atom practices are from 630pm- 800pm and Novice Flag practice are from 630pm - 730pm.

 

For Pee-Wee and Bantam divisions, practice occurs in May and June and recommences the first week of August. There is no practice in July. Games begin in August and the regular season ends approximately at the end of October beginning of November. Play offs occur in November. Practices are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 630pm- 830pm.

 

For all Divisions, practices occur at the Stony Plain Bombers field behind the ball diamonds and outdoor pool.

 

Games occur in the City of Edmonton and the surrounding areas.

Fundraising Commitment:

 

Novice Flag

  • 1 Bingo Shift

 

Atom, Pee-Wee, and Bantam

  • $250.00 in Fundraising PROFIT for the club
  • 1 Bingo Shift

 

If parents would like to work extra Bingo shifts, $50 will be applied to the $250 cash fundraising for every additional shift to a maximum of 5.

 

Parents/Guardians can choose to payout their fundraising commitment. If your fundraising commitment is not met by end of season, remainder will be added to your RAMP account and your account will be locked until payment has occurred. Support with running sticks and running score clock during games. The volunteer coordinator will be in contact with parents/guardians to make arrangements.

  • Equipment will need to be returned cleaned, if not, players will be charged $50.
  • Equipment must be returned with in 14 days of a player withdrawing from the program or end of season. Should equipment not be returned, $1000 will be charged to the player’s RAMP account. The RAMP account will be locked until the fees are paid. This is in lieu of taking deposits.
  • Players will not receive equipment until all registration forms, registration fees and deposits have been received.

U16 Female Tackle Football

The Stony Plain Bombers are all in on female tackle football to provide female youth the opportunity to continue to grow in the sport. This division provides the opportunity for female youth to compete against each other and develop their skill sets in the sport.

 

U16 Eligibility

 

Females who are 13 to 15 years of age (turning 13 in the calendar year and not turning 16 in the calendar year). Born in the years 2008, 2009 and 2010.

 

Reside in City of Spruce Grove, Town of Stony Plain, Parkland County and other municipalities and counties that do not have a U16 Female Tackle league in their area.

 

Game Play and Season

 

The league will play 6-A-Side full field.

 

There will be 4 Regular Season Games and 2 Play off games. The season will end on May 28, 2023. There is no game play during Easter and May long weekend.

 

Combined Skills Camp February 12 and 18, 2023 at Foote Field.

 

Practice begins February 23, 2023 at the PERC Building from 6pm - 8pm. Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will move to the Stony Plain Bombers Field once the field is open.

 

Jamboree in Fort McMurray - date to be determined.

 

Potential game to occur in Calgary, AB.
